FRAMVIA didn't start as a software idea.
It started behind the counter of a real frame shop.
At Art'n'Design in Sweden, the job begins with an artwork and a customer decision — but behind that decision is a chain of measurements, products, supplier information, pricing rules and workshop steps that all have to agree.
The software available to us did parts of the job, but the framing-specific information we wanted was often missing or fragmented.
So we started building our own internal tool.
Some moulding data could be imported. Other suppliers did not expose the dimensions we needed in usable product data, so profile drawings had to be interpreted and checked. Measurements that mattered in production but were not supplied had to be derived and verified. A mount design needed to stay mathematically connected to the file sent toward production.
That shaped a principle we still use:
The system should know what it knows — and say when it doesn't.
A missing cost should not silently look like zero. An unverified dimension should not look verified. A customer price already agreed should not move because a supplier changes a catalogue price tomorrow.
FRAMVIA is still being built. It is not yet the public SaaS product we want it to become, and we will not pretend otherwise.
But the direction is clear:
From quote to finished frame. One framing-specific workflow.
